The 41st HAPUA Council Meeting and its Associated Meetings, hosted by Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) at Ayana Komodo Waecicu Beach and Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo, convened ASEAN power utility leaders to strengthen regional energy cooperation. HAPUA (Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities), a recognized electricity organization in Southeast Asia, is formally reinforced through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2004, with membership comprising the ten national electricity authorities of all ASEAN countries: Brunei Darussalam (Department of Electrical Services), Cambodia (Electricité du Cambodge), Indonesia (PT PLN (Persero)), Lao PDR (Electricité du Laos), Malaysia (Tenaga Nasional Berhad), Myanmar (Department of Electric Power), the Philippines (National Power Corporation), Singapore (Singapore Power Limited), Thailand (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand), and Vietnam (Electricity Vietnam). Held over five days, the meeting was attended by key officials including PLN’s President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy Ts. Abdul Razid Dawood, as well as senior representatives from national electricity authorities such as the National Power Corporation of the Philippines and Electricité du Laos. The event further strengthened regional cooperation in the power sector and concluded with a memorable gala dinner featuring traditional local dance performances and live music.
